Tracey Sinclair started teaching in state schools over 30 years ago in her native New Zealand, where she graduated in pedagogy. She furthered her skills by becoming a qualified EFL teacher in London. At present she works as a teacher trainer and international speaker when not in the classroom teaching.

My international research into the classroom behaviour of teenagers has shown similar aspects; to name a few: fixation of technology, unwillingness to participate, immediacy of response. This workshop will demonstrate how these factors can be rendered positive in the English language classroom and yet enable the teacher to complete curriculum requirements. Different learning styles, multiple intelligences, dealing with students who have learning difficulties, different ways of coping with classroom management challenges (such as space restrictions, class sizes both small and large) as well as the ubiquitous mixed-level classes will also be discussed. Examples of possible solutions to the everyday challenges teachers have to deal with will also be discussed. I will include in the talk areas such as the differences, and similarities, we teachers have using international examples I have encountered in my research. Grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary issues will be mentioned as they are all common aspects of a EFL class.
